2017 Celebration of Excellence Awards

The Celebration of Excellence is an event that honors community businesses (“Partners in Education”) that help schools and students alike throughout the year. It also recognizes some of Forsyth County’s best and most influential teachers – by congratulating all of the Teachers of the Year and announcing the 2017 Forsyth County Teacher of the Year.

The Celebration of Excellence highlights what makes Forsyth County schools some of the best in the nation. Forsyth County Schools boast the highest SAT scores in Metro-Atlanta and the highest ACT scores in the state. Also, Forsyth County’s high school graduation rate is 92.7% compared to the national rate of 83.2%. Another great accomplishment for Forsyth County is that 50.83% of adults have a Bachelor’s degree compared to 41.89% of adults at the national level. The system and the entire community benefit from all the wonderful community partners and inspirational teachers.

Along with the announcement of the district-wide Teacher of the Year, the highest award a Partner in Education can receive is given at this event. The Hendricks family established the Don Hendricks Partnership award in 2002 after the passing of Don Hendricks, a long-time member of the Board of Education. He believed in the Forsyth County School system and its quest for quality learning and superior performance for all. Jim and Peggie Morrow of the Morrow Community Foundation were the 2017 recipients of this prestigious award.

The Celebration of Excellence is a perfect example of an education system and the business community working together to make a better future for the students of today and tomorrow.
