Forsyth County Named Healthiest County for the 6th Year!

What factors came together to name Forsyth County the #1 Healthiest County in all of GA…for six years running?  According to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, it is how Forsyth County made use of its healthcare infrastructure, government, Chamber, schools, taxes, homes, parks, and sporting venues to improve Forsyth communities’ quality of life.

The County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program compares the health of nearly all counties in the United States to others within its state and supports coalitions tackling the social, economic and environmental factors that influence health.

The annual Rankings provide a revealing snapshot of how health is influenced by where we live, learn, work and play. As the Rankings offer a starting point for change, the Roadmaps provide guidance and tools to understand the data, and strategies that communities can use to move from education to action. (Here’s a link to this year’s rankings)

The rankings measures: how long people live and how healthy people feel while alive.  It is easy to conclude why Forsyth County continues to rank #1.  We have a community of healthcare partners like Northside Hospital Forsyth and their ever-expanding campus and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s urgent care center and we have a plethora of award-winning Parks & Recreation facilities to keep our community active and fit!  Boating on Lake Lanier’s sparkling water and watching a sunset is an experience of a lifetime! And, the breathtaking views of Sawnee Mountain leaves you speechless.  You can actually see the summit of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range.

Did you know that Forsyth Parks & Recreation is nationally recognized for its award-winning parks?  Our numerous outdoor recreation options including Lake Lanier, Sawnee Mountain and the Big Creek Greenway (Forsyth County’s trail system), caught the attention of the  Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).  We were awarded a very prestigious accreditation.  We are one of only 165 departments nationally to receive this prestigious accreditation.

Forsyth County’s economy is flourishing these days, and it is because of the business community’s confidence in Forsyth County and all it has to offer their business and their employees.  New companies are coming to Forsyth to locate their business here, and it is no surprise that quality of life was at the top of their list.  Moreover, they took note that Forsyth has been named the healthiest county in the state . . . Not one time, but six times!

Why choose Forsyth County for your business and place of residence? Because we are nestled between scenic mountains, the metro region of Atlanta, and route 400 aka GA 400, which is often called “The Quality Technology Corridor.” With easy access to major highways, we are a short drive to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  We have some of the largest and most innovative companies across the state, nation, and globe that call Forsyth County their home.  Our strategic location, talented workforce, excellent education, low property taxes and endless opportunities to get outdoors are just a few reasons why we think you should choose us over other counties.  Learn more about our business incentives and why we are the #1 small city to start a business.
