2019 Business of the Year Award

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, in an effort to support entrepreneurship in our community, is excited to host the 2019 Excellence in Business Awards. This program offers well-deserved recognition to businesses for their achievements and contributions to our community by providing the opportunity to showcase their company, share their story and be rewarded for their efforts.

What makes you unique?  Have you shown incredible growth compared to most companies your size?  Is there something special about you or your staff?  Are you involved in your community in a special way?  Does your business do something that has never been done before?  The story behind your business, as well as those special qualities that make you stand out to your customers and stakeholders, are the same characteristics that will identify you as a contender for the 2019 Business of the Year Award.

Why apply for the 2019 Business of the Year Award and how can it benefit you?  Here are just a few of the benefits of winning the 2019 Business of the Year Award:

CREDIBILITY:  Customers search your company on Google, Angie’s list, BBB, TripAdvisor, or any of the myriad of review sites available out there before they pick up the phone or set foot in your door.  Now, imagine their reaction if the search turns up an award next to your name? You have just won yourself priceless legitimacy that even the fanciest website can’t achieve – something that can easily outweigh one Negative Nancy’s less-than-stellar review.  Your future customers will know that you are not only a legitimate company, but that your brand stands even a cut above the competition.

PRESS OPPORTUNITIES:  Of course a great website and an active social media presence are vital to representing your brand online, but do they get to people who weren’t already looking for you? This year’s award includes great press opportunities as well as social media recognition.

FINANCIAL INCENTIVES:  The 2019 Business of the Year Award winner will be presented with various incentives to help support you and your business growth.

Judging and Selection Process

Following submission, all applications are reviewed by a panel of six judges who will individually score the responses.  Judges use a 10 point grading system for each question, resulting in a cumulative score for each applicant.  The eight (8) applicants with the highest scores will advance as finalists and are then eligible to earn the Business of the Year Award. ***

The second phase of the selection process will include an on-site interview during which the judges will visit the finalists’ places of business.  Each finalist will have an opportunity to make a formal presentation, conduct a facility tour, and respond to additional questions from the judges.  This process will result in a second and final set of scores which will determine the 2019 Business of the Year award winner and will remain confidential until announced at the 2019 Excellence in Business Awards Gala on Thursday, February 7, 2019.  At the event, all finalists will be recognized on stage.
